H. Doyle Harvill, former editor and publisher of the Tampa Tribune, died Dec. 17 in his Tampa Bay home. He was 80. Harvill, who worked at the St. Petersburg Times early in his career, was diagnosed with a brain tumor last September. A Hillsborough County native, Harvill led the Tribune’s rapid expansion during the 1980s and 1990s and stoked the newspaper’s spirited competition with the Times.
